Talk 2 - Shane Lynam

Shane Lynam is an Irish photographer based in Dublin. By spending extended periods photographing built environments and weaving the images together to create intuitive narratives, his work looks to provide a fresh perspective on our perception of public space.

He presented his latest work-in-progress project, Pebbledash Wonderland. Through repetitive and persistent investigations of Dublin’s architectural tapestry, the work communicates a small part of the photographer’s lived experience between 2014 and 2023. It speaks to the subjective nature of how our recollection of place and memory is formed. Implicitly, it serves to capture the mood during this period of profound change in the capital and disrupt popular visual representations of post-crisis Dublin.

Talk 3 - Malcolm McGettigan

Malcolm McGettigan is a Dublin based photographer specialising in commercial, portrait, lifestyle and documentary photography.

He presented work from an ongoing project centered around his family home in Donegal. This work deals with memories and emotions triggered when exploring the landscapes and spaces that were occupied from early childhood through to young adulthood. Feelings of love, loss, fear and anxiety resurface, wanting to be addressed, whilst recognising the affects they had and how they may have shaped him. A book and exhibition of this work are planned for the end of 2024.
